Both of these films were the first ones we watched on our plant-based journey. Eating plant-based for your health is certainly a great thing, but there’s a good chance you won’t stick with it in the long run unless you also understand the ethics behind meat production and how those cuts of meat got into the freezer case at the grocer. I say this because we lived it. Jim and I were vegetarians in the 1990s, then became “flexitarians,” allowing everything in our diet except for red meat, and then eventually everything-tarians, where almost nothing was off limits, until we watched these films. If any of this sounds familiar, or if you are just starting this path, “Vegucated” manages to keep you watching while setting you straight about the fact there are no happy cows. “Forks Over Knives” will reinforce the health and ethics for you.
